Are you curious about directing a stage play but not sure where to start? Come join us for a Zoom workshop with one of our experienced directors to learn the ropes!


When: Saturday, November 21st & 28th. 3pm- 6pm (JST)

Where: Zoom meeting

Materials needed: A device on which you can access Zoom. Access to a script you would like to focus on.

In this workshop, we'll discuss:

  • How to break down a script into manageable elements

  • Creating a vision board to keep continuity

  • The research process

  • Best casting practices

  • Conveying your vision to the actors

  • Working with designers

  • Overcoming limitations

  • Understanding a budget and the director’s obligation to the budget

  • Time management and the production schedule

  • Troubleshooting

About the Instructor: 

Jonah has been involved in theater for most of his life and has directed more than a dozen productions for TIP including The Rocky Horror Show, Diary of Anne Frank, Avenue Q, and most recently Hand To God. His professional work includes feature films, network television series, commercials, voice-over and narration work, and stage work including over 10 years of national tours in both America and Japan.
