Auditions for THE TEMPEST have concluded

Updated: Oct 16

Tokyo International Players (TIP) is proud to announce auditions

for THE TEMPEST by William Shakespeare,

directed by Michelle Yamazaki.

Embark on an extraordinary voyage to a remote island where the exiled wizard Duke Prospero orchestrates a tempest to shipwreck his enemies. Amidst the tumult, secrets are revealed and alliances tested, while young love emerges from chaos. As the island's magical inhabitants weave their spells, themes of power, forgiveness, and redemption unfold in a mesmerizing tale that transcends time. This production of Shakespeare's enchanting masterpiece will feature nods to classical Japanese performance traditions.

WHAT TO PREPARE

Please prepare a short (up to 2-minute) Shakespearean monologue, either comedic or dramatic. You may also sing a short (up to 30-second) selection of an a capella song if you wish, but this is not required. All audition pieces should be memorized. Choose something that shows off your personality; try to have fun with it! You will also be asked to sign a liability waiver and complete a general questionnaire so you can tell us about your theater/performance background and rehearsal availability.
